Emma Actis
Trainer

Emma Actis embodies the essence of a true horsewoman, her life woven with the grace and strength filled with horses.  Raised in a ranching family, Emma's childhood was painted with the rugged beauty of the high Sierras, where summers were spent on a horse, rounding up cattle with a natural ease and passion.

Formally trained in hunt seat equitation, Emma delved into the world of competitive riding, showcasing her skills as a hunter jumper for several years. Her journey expanded far beyond the show ring, as she delved deeper into the realm of equine care and training.

Emma's dedication led her to intern at an equine surgery and veterinary medicine clinic, gaining invaluable insights into the health and well-being of these majestic animals. Her thirst for knowledge didn't stop there; she sought wisdom under the guidance of seasoned reigning colt starters, honing her skills and deepening her understanding of equine behavior and training techniques.

Emma established and successfully ran a client-based horse training business, where her expertise and passion intertwined to nurture both horses and their human counterparts. Central to Emma's philosophy is the belief that horses are our greatest teachers. She embraces natural horsemanship techniques, drawing inspiration from experts like Buck Brannaman and Warwick Schiller.

Emma Actis is more than an equestrian; she's acutely instinctive, has a compassion, and respect for the bond between humans and horses.

Dedicated to the untamed spirit of wild mustangs, my passion for these magnificent creatures runs deep. My journey as a horse trainer revolves around breaking down barriers, earning trust, and cultivating transformative partnerships with these incredible beings. More than just training, my approach is centered on building a bond that extends far beyond the confines of the arena.

My diverse foundation of training techniques spans various disciplines, reflecting the rich diversity of my equine experiences. From the refined grace of Hunter Jumper and Dressage to the laid-back vibes of Western Pleasure. Working on ranches, where I navigated the challenges of pushing cattle and participating in branding, provided me with invaluable insights into the world of equine behavior.

Venturing into the heart of Canada, I embraced the exhilarating world of polo, immersing myself in the fast-paced thrill of the sport. As I delved into Mustang makeovers, I honed my skills in trick training and found joy in the artistry of liberty work. I firmly believe that liberty serves as a solid foundation for any riding discipline, and I seamlessly incorporate it into all aspects of my training.

With a commitment to preserving the essence of wild mustangs, I invite you to join me on this extraordinary journey of connection, trust, and mutual understanding.

Over the past four years, I've dedicated my time to honing my skills in horse handling, delving into the intricacies of equine science under the mentorship of Monica Knight at United Mustangs of America. My journey has led me to collaborate on mustang makeover projects, where I've had the privilege of working with both transformative and 'problem' horses.

Beyond the realm of training, I find joy in showcasing the versatility of mustangs. Whether it's navigating the precision of hunter/jumper courses or embracing the thrilling challenges of gymkhana events, I've discovered the unique and dynamic qualities that make mustangs truly remarkable. Eager to continue my journey in the world of equines, I am committed to furthering my understanding and passion for these incredible creatures.
